Northeastern Slovenia is a land of friendly people, noblest wines and excellent traditional dishes. It is extremely rich in cultural and historical heritage - numerous castles, manor houses, monasteries and famous churches greet visitors at every corner.
It is land of high mountains, slopes that in winter become attractive ski areas, mighty forests and beautiful alpine valleys on the north of the region, while in the most north-eastern part landscape is flat and simply enchanting. Numerous thermal springs attracts visitors every day and many of them are so charmed by the tranquillity of the nature and hospitality of the locals they decide to stay forever. Lazy rivers and mysterious moors, wide fields and rounded hills, storks and wind-rattles, floating mills, healing waters and energy points, picturesque winegrowing hills, original traditions truly capture your heart.
Wine grows in the east, south and west of the country. Wine roads bring a visitor to wine cellars and local culinary offer. Famous wine growing regions are Podravje (the Drava region), Slovenske gorice between Ormoz and Ljutomer, Maribor and the Haloze hills.
